The Albula region ( Rhaeto-Romanic Alvra ) is an administrative unit of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland , which was created as a result of the territorial reform on January 1, 2016.

It includes the valleys of the Albula , the Albulatal , and the Julia , the Oberhalbstein . The region is also called Surmeir .

Except for the municipality of Mutten (moved to the Viamala region on January 1, 2016 ), the Albula region is identical to the Albula district that existed until December 31, 2015 .

The districts of Alvaschein , Belfort and Bergün were dissolved on December 31, 2015, the Surses district remained in existence until December 31, 2017 for supra- municipal tasks.
