The district Surses made until 31 December 2015 together with the districts Alvaschein , Belfort and Berguen the District Albula of the canton of Grisons in Switzerland . The seat of the district office was in Savognin . The districts were abolished by the Graubünden regional reform. The district of Surses remained in existence for supra-municipal tasks until December 31, 2017.

The district of Surses covers the area of the Oberhalbstein valley and extends along the Julia River above Tiefencastel to the top of the Julier Pass .
