The amalgamation of the municipalities of Riom and Parsonz was not reflected in the coat of arms. The coat of arms of the former municipality of Parsonz shows three golden (yellow) balls (1,2) in red, raised by a silver bishop's miter with gold trim and gold-silver hangings.
geography
The former municipality is located in Oberhalbstein on the northeast slope of Piz Martegna ( 2670 m ). The municipality border was formed by the Adont (including Salaschigns ) in the north, the Julia and the Forbesch-Arblatsch massif in the east, the Fuorcla Curtegns , the Fuorcla Starlera and the Fuorcla da Saletscha in the south and Piz Alv , Piz Settember , Sur Carungas in the west , Piz Cartas and Piz Martegnas. Thus almost the entire ski area of Savognin was located in the municipality of Riom-Parsonz. The former municipality had a 2.77 km² exclave between Cunter , Salouf and Albula / Alvra , the border of which ran from Burvagn west of Crap d'Uigls via Crap digls Anghels to almost Motta Palousa, then past Tgant Ladrung to Julia and then back to Burvagn via Cresta. The "Crap Ses" tunnel was thus located in the former municipality of Riom-Parsonz. A second, only 66 a large exclave ( enclave of the former municipality of Cunter) was only 160 m next to the larger exclave in a wood next to the main road between Burvagn and Vaznoz.
The lowest point of the former municipality is in the exclave at Tgant Ladrung below the Crap Ses and is 995 m high. The highest point is the Piz Forbesch ( 3261.8 m ).
The largest settlements are Riom , Parsonz ( 1398 m ) and Tigignas ( 1499 m ). There are also numerous other hamlets and farms.
Of the entire former municipal area of over 56 km², 2858 hectares can be used for agriculture, of which over 90% only as mountain pastures. Another 1679 hectares are mountains. Around 10 km² - exactly 1006 hectares - are covered by forest and wood. The remainder of 61 ha is settlement area.
The Lai Lung is located on the former municipal area .

languages
Until the late 19th century, all residents spoke Surmeir , a regional dialect of Rhaeto-Romanic . Little changed in this until 1970, even if the percentage of Romansh fell from 99.0% in 1880 to 90.28% in 1970. Since 1980 the native language has been losing ground massively. This is mainly due to the immigration of German speakers, and in recent years there has also been an increased change of language. The following table shows the development over the past decades:
