Latsch is a village in the county Bergün , District Albula , Kanton Graubünden , Switzerland . It belongs to the former municipality of Bergün / Bravuogn and has been part of the Bergün Filisur municipality since January 1, 2018 .

location

Latsch is visible from afar on a knoll above Bergün / Bravuogn at approx. 1590  m above sea level. M. in the upper valley of the Albula . The silhouette of the village is particularly impressive because of the steep southern slope. Because the size and development have hardly changed, this village of Latsch looks like a glimpse into the past. Today Latsch, like Stugl and Preda , is part of the Bergün / Bravuogn municipality.

history

An episcopal court was first mentioned in Latsch as Lacis in 1154. The settlement has grown along a lane with branches as a pure street village and is likely to have reached today's size around 1500. The chapel of St. Nicholas was built in 1523 and the Reformation was introduced in 1590. In 1891 the construction of a road to Bergün began. Unclearness about the exact border with the Bergün / Bravuogn municipality led to Latsch merging with the neighboring municipality in 1912. In 1983 the village consisted of 30 farms, of which only three were managed.

Village

Structurally, the village still looks very closed and authentic. The location formed the backdrop for the 1952 Swiss film Heidi and the 1955 Swiss film Heidi and Peter . Latsch also served as the backdrop for the remake of Heidi , shot in 2014 . Only a few holiday homes were built in the 1960s. At the moment there is no grocery store, no hotel, no restaurant, just a guesthouse.

traffic

Latsch can be reached daily by post bus from Bergün / Bravuogn. From Latsch, a path leads across the public car park through woods and meadows to Stugl .
