The municipality Bergün Filisur is located in the upper Albula valley and consists of the villages Filisur ( 1032  m above sea level. M. ) and Bergün / Bravuogn ( 1367  m ), the two factions Stugl and Laces and the two hamlets Preda (along Maiensäss Naz ) and Chants ( 1822  m ). The community covers an area of 190.14 km² and has almost a thousand inhabitants.

history

At the community assemblies on April 9, 2014 in Bergün / Bravuogn and Filisur, the fundamental question of a possible merger of the two communities was put on the agenda for the first time. While Bergün agreed to start negotiations, the people of Filisur decided that the municipality board must first inquire with the Schmitten municipality . Since Schmitten had decided in a fundamental decision against a merger with the municipalities in the anterior Albula valley a year earlier, the start of negotiations with Bergün was approved at the municipal assembly in Filisur in spring 2015.

At the meeting on May 10, 2016, the government of the canton of Graubünden decided on a subsidy for the new municipality in the upper Albula valley in the amount of CHF 8.615 million.

In the second merger brochure, which was published by the merger working group in June 2016, it was suggested that the name of the new municipality should be “Bergün Filisur” and that the coat of arms of the former district should be adopted.
