languages
The original language of the inhabitants is Sutselvisch , a Graubünden Romance dialect. Until the second half of the 19th century, the community was monolingual (in 1880 95% Romansh speakers). The language situation remained stable until 1970 (88% in 1941, 90% in novels in 1970). Since then, there has been a massive shift in favor of German due to immigration and language changes. From 1990 to 2000 the number of German speakers doubled, while the number of Romansh speakers fell by a third.
Although 82% of the residents understand Romansh, German is the only official language today. The official language according to the cantonal language law of 2006 is only Romansh.
nationality
Of the 57 residents at the end of 2005, all were Swiss citizens.
