Innerferrera ( Rhaeto-Romanic Calantgil ) is a fraction of the municipality of Ferrera GR in the former Schams district in the Hinterrhein district of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . On January 1, 2008, she was with the community Ausserferrera to the municipality Ferrera merged .

Description: In black, a silver (white) miner's hammer (pick) placed diagonally to the right. The significant mining in Ausser- und Innerferrera led to the choice of the miner's hammer as a coat of arms for both communities in the colors of the church association.
geography
The place is a cluster of villages at the confluence of the Ferrera-Rhine and Niemetbach rivers in the only valley floor in the back of the Ferrera valley . Of the total local area of almost 44 km², 65% are unproductive areas (mostly mountains). After all, 10 km² (exactly 1,006 ha) can be used for agriculture, but almost all of it is an alpine farming area. A further 516 hectares are covered by forest and wood and the remaining 18 hectares are settlement areas.

languages
Originally, the inhabitants spoke Sutselvisch , a Graubünden Romanesque dialect. In 1880 all 52 people stated Romansh as their mother tongue. The language situation did not change until the First World War (96.15% Romansh speakers in 1910). The decline of Romansh followed in the interwar period. As early as 1941, Romansh speakers were in the minority with 46.3%. Until 1980 there was a shrinking Romansh-speaking minority. Today the village is almost monolingual in German. The only official language is German, because only three of the 49 residents (= 6.12%) understand Romansh. The following table shows the development over the last few decades:
