Area description
The Val da la Duana is about 3.5 km long and 2 km wide. The pass da la Val da Roda is part of the European watershed , between the catchment areas of the Rhine and Po .

Hydrography
In the upper part of the valley is the Lägh Pit da la Duana lake (2576 m above sea level, diameter approx. 200 m). It is fed by the Duana stream. The Duana flows eastwards from there, first taking up the water of the outflow of a nameless lake (2768 m above sea level, diameter approx. 100 m) at the foot of the glacier horn and a little further down the Riale Piz Mungiroi. It flows into the Lägh da la Duana (also Lej da la Duana , 2466 m above sea level, 400 m long, 150 m wide).
The Lägh da la Duana has no drainage: the water disappears in crevices and only reappears on the surface near Vicosoprano . In contrast to Madris , which also belongs to Soglio, the valley belongs hydrographically to the Bergell.
The Canadian Arctic Char occurs in the lake .
