Life

Günter Zöller began figure skating as a child. He trained with Jutta Müller and only started for SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt and from 1963 for SC Karl-Marx-Stadt , i.e. for the GDR. In his career he was GDR champion six times. In 1967 he defeated Reinhard Mirmseker , later president of the German Ice Skating Union, at the GDR championships . After he had continuously improved on the international stage, he was third in both the European Championship and the World Championship in 1970 . However, he was then injured. During the European Championships in Göteborg in 1972 , he withdrew and fled to West Germany. Here he became a successful trainer, first in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and from 1974 in Mannheim . He trained in Germany including Claudia Leistner , Rudi Cerne , Stefan Pfrengle , Manuela Ruben , Petra Ernert , Susanne Becher , Nathalie Weinzierl and the Canadian Brian Orser and is still a trainer in Mannheim today.
