Claudia Leistner , married. Pfrengle (born April 15, 1965 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a former German figure skater who started in a single run . She was twice vice world champion and in 1989 European champion .

Life

Leistner was German female figure skating champion from 1985 to 1989 . She participated in the period from 1982 to 1989, with the exception of 1984, in all European and world championships . At the European Championships, she never placed worse than fifth. In 1983 in Dortmund and 1985 in Gothenburg she won the bronze medal in victories by Katarina Witt . In 1989 , Leistner became European Champion in Birmingham, England . She was also consistently at the front at world championships. Her worst result there was sixth place. 1983 in Helsinki she was vice world champion behind the American Rosalynn Sumners and in 1989 in Paris vice world champion behind the Japanese Midori Itō . Leistner played two Winter Olympics . In 1984 in Sarajevo she finished ninth and in 1988 in Calgary she was sixth. She was one of the few women who mastered the triple Rittberger and triple flip at the time.

Leistner originally started out as a roller skater and later switched to figure skating. She trained in Mannheim and started for the Mannheim ERC . Your coach was first the multiple GDR champion Günter Zöller and later the Olympic champion and multiple world champion Ondrej Nepela . At the end of her career she was trained by the ten-time Polish pair skating champion and later state trainer of Baden-Württemberg, Peter Sczypa , with whom she won her long-awaited European championship and victory at Skate America .

Claudia Leistner is married to Stefan Pfrengle , a former German champion in pair skating. The couple has a daughter, Julia Pfrengle (* 1995), who is also an active figure skater at the Mannheim ERC, and a son (* 2000). Today Leistner trains her daughter together with Sczypa.
