Nathalie Weinzierl (born April 8, 1994 in Saarbrücken ) is a German figure skater who starts in a single run .

biography

At national level, she has won five medals so far: in 2006 she won bronze in the junior category, in 2007 she was German junior runner-up, 2008 German junior runner-up, 2013 German runner-up in Hamburg and 2014 German champion in Berlin.

At the beginning of the 2011/2012 season, Nathalie Weinzierl switched to national coach Peter Sczypa , with whom she celebrated her first successes in the senior class.

In January 2012 she won silver at the Heiko Fischer Cup senior competition in Stuttgart. Benefiting from the injury to her training colleague Sarah Hecken , she was nominated by the DEU for the European Championships in Sheffield in 2012 . On her debut she made it to the final and finished in 22nd place. In February she won her first gold medal in an ISU-listed world ranking competition. With 138.47 points she won the Bavarian Open 2012 in Oberstdorf .

Nathalie Weinzierl started the 2012/2013 season with a top 10 placement at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Linz . With 134.90 points, she took 9th place. At the also internationally highly regarded Nebelhorn Trophy 2012 in Oberstdorf she reached the 7th place and with her 142.96 points got the minimum technical points required by the International Ice Skating Union for the 2013 World Championships . Due to her good performance at the Junior Grand Prix in Linz, she received another starting place for an ISU Junior Grand Prix from the DEU. At the JGP “Cup of Blue Swords” in Chemnitz , she again achieved a top 10 position with 10th place. At the NRW Trophy for Single & Pair Skating 2012, which caused media interest due to the comeback of the 2010 Olympic and World Champion Yu-na Kim , she achieved 6th place. In December 2012 she won the runner- up at the German Championships 2013 in Hamburg with 150.55 points and qualified on points for the European Championships 2013 in Zagreb at the end of January. There she reached 9th place with 147.52 points. By jumping into the top 10, she won two starting positions for Germany for the 2014 European Championships in Budapest and also qualified for the 2013 World Championships in London, Canada, in mid-March . In addition, she was nominated by the DEU for the Junior World Championships 2013 in Milan at the end of February . At the Bavarian Open 2013 she won the gold medal again with 157.42 points.

She started the Olympic season at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf with a respectable 8th place (137.36 points). At the Ondrej Nepala Trophy in Bratislava she reached the 5th place (142.88 points), in the subsequent Coupe de Nice third place with 144.56 points - 0.44 points past the German Olympic standard (145 points). At the Merano Cup in November 2013 in Merano, she won the gold medal with 139.97 points. After a top performance in short freestyle and freestyle, she won the German championship for the first time in December 2013 with her personal best of 175.31 points. Because of this good performance, she was nominated for the team competition and the individual competitions for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. With the 8th place at the European Championships in Budapest in 2014 (151.88 points), she established herself in the European top and again secured two starting places for the DEU for the European Championships in Stockholm in 2015. At the Olympics in Sochi she was able to qualify for the freestyle with 57.63 points (10th place) in the short program . In this, however, she made some mistakes (89.73 points), which slipped her to 18th place.

Nathalie Weinzierl studies corporate law at the University of Mannheim . In October 2012 she was elected Sportswoman of the Year 2012 by the citizens of Frankenthal .
