Eva-Maria Fitze (born May 10, 1982 in Dachau ) is a former German figure skater who started in single and pair skating .

biography

Eva-Maria Fitze started as a single runner at ERC Munich at the age of seven . In 1997, the then 14-year-old won the German championships with her coach Karin Gaiser in the absence of the sick Tanja Szewczenko , making her the youngest national title holder to date. In the same season she achieved her greatest success as a single runner with 7th place at the European Championships. Nevertheless, she was not nominated for the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games by the national association .

Eva-Maria Fitze subsequently fell ill with bulimia . The disease was so severe that in 1999 she withdrew completely from figure skating and had to undergo several months of therapy in an assisted living community. Fitze made her illness public, sparking a discussion about the health risks of eating disorders in competitive athletes.

After recovering from illness, Eva-Maria Fitze attempted a comeback as an individual runner in Munich from September 2000 under the coaches Steffi Ruttkies and Karin Stephan , but could not qualify for the Winter Games in Salt Lake City in the following Olympic season .

Fitze then switched to pair skating in Chemnitz to her partner Rico Rex , with whom she won her first German pair skating title in 2003. The couple were trained by Ingo Steuer until December 2005 , then by Monika Scheibe . Fitze / Rex ended their ice skating careers after finishing 15th at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .

Eva-Maria Fitze is one of the few German figure skaters who was able to win a national title in both individual and pair skating. Only Maxi Herber and, in the GDR, Heidemarie Steiner were able to do this before her . She was a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr .

Eva-Maria Fitze successfully ran ice shows in 2006/2007 (Navigator of the Seas) and 2011/2012 (Freedom of the Seas) for (Royal Caribbean international).

In 2007 Fitze completed an apprenticeship as a sports and fitness clerk. Until 2011, Fitze trained in fitness, wellness and alternative medicine at a non-medical practitioner school. The additional enthusiasm for the hotel industry arose from secondary activities in the exploration and guest relations area of ​​the Freedom of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International), as a result of which Fitze initially worked as a spa receptionist in a five-star hotel in Munich.

From 2013 to 2014 Eva-Maria Fitze supported the WellFit team as a group fitness trainer at the Robinson Club Agadir. From 2014 to 2015 Fitze headed the WellFit division as WellFit specialist. Eva-Maria Fitze has been a group fitness trainer at Robinson WellFit in Rosenheim since 2015. In the summer season, Fitze supports the Robinson Club Nobilis as a personal trainer and group fitness trainer.

Eva-Maria Fitze is currently working as a personal trainer and mental coach.
