Peggy Schwarz (born September 4, 1971 in Berlin ) is a former German figure skater who competed in pair skating for the GDR and Germany .
She grew up with her single mother and began figure skating in 1975. She started pair skating at the age of 9. Her first partner was Olaf Stenzel. Since 1985 she ran with Alexander König . She started for SC Dynamo Berlin and SC Berlin . Your trainer was Heidemarie Steiner-Walther .
With König, she became East German pair skating champion in 1988 and won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Prague behind the Soviet couples Yekaterina Gordejewa and Sergei Grinkow as well as Larissa Selesnjowa and Oleg Makarow . Her best result at world championships was fourth place in 1989 . At the Olympic Games in 1988 , 1992 and 1994 , they each finished seventh. In 1990 Peggy Schwarz and Alexander König changed their coach. From then on, Knut Schubert was the coach . In 1992, Schwarz and König also became German pair skating champions . In 1994, Peggy Schwarz took a baby break. Her son was born on April 1st, 1995, father is Heiko Brestrich , a former soccer player.
Since May 1996 she trained and started with Mirko Müller . Her trainer was again Knut Schubert. From 1998 to 2000 they were German champions . At the European Championships in 1999 and 2000 they just missed a medal in fourth place. Her greatest success was winning the bronze medal at the 1998 World Cup in Minneapolis behind the Russians Jelena Bereschnaja and Anton Sicharulidze and the Americans Jenni Meno and Todd Sand . The 1998 Olympic Games finished in ninth place. In 2000, Peggy Schwarz ended her active figure skating career due to a chronic hip displacement ( dysplasia ). Peggy Schwarz has been a trainer in Grimma , Saxony , since 2000 . Since 2015 she has been a trainer at Hallescher Eissportclub eV (HEC) in Halle (Saale), Saxony-Anhalt.
