Romy Kermer , married. Oesterreich (born June 28, 1956 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former German figure skater who started in pair skating for the GDR , and figure skating trainer.
She began figure skating in Karl-Marx-Stadt. There she also started pair skating with trainer Irene Salzmann . Her partner was Tassilo Thierbach . In 1972 Kermer went to Berlin and trained there with Heidemarie Steiner-Walther at SC Dynamo Berlin . But she started in 1973 for SC Karl-Marx-Stadt and only officially switched to SC Dynamo Berlin that year. Her figure skating partner in Berlin was Rolf Oesterreich .
At the side of Rolf Oesterreich, she immediately became GDR champion in 1973 in the absence of Manuela Groß and Uwe Kagelmann . Kermer and Austria finished sixth on their European championship debut in Cologne and fifth on their world championship debut in Bratislava . In 1974 they won their first international medals. In Zagreb they became vice-European champions behind Irina Rodnina and Alexander Saizew and surprisingly beat Lyudmila Smirnowa and Alexei Ulanow from the Soviet Union as well as the reigning GDR champions Groß and Kagelmann. At the World Championships in Munich they had to admit defeat to Smirnowa and Ulanow, but again stayed ahead of their compatriots and thus won the bronze medal. In 1975 Romy Kermer and Rolf Oesterreich became East German champions for the first time in the presence of Groß and Kagelmann. They defended the title a year later. At the European Championships in Copenhagen in 1975 as well as in the 1975 World Championships in Colorado Springs , they won the silver medal behind Rodnina and Saizew. Silver was also the color for Kermer and Austria in the last year of their careers, 1976. Both at the European Championships in Geneva as well as at the Olympic Games in Innsbruck and the World Championships in Gothenburg , they only had to beat the outstanding couple Rodnina / Saizew from the Soviet Union give.
Romy Kermer and Rolf Oesterreich got married after their active figure skating time. Kermer became a trainer at SC Berlin. At the moment she is training the federal squad members Paul Fentz , Minerva-Fabienne Hase and Nolan Seegert and a group of young figure skaters, which also includes Jegor Esslinger, William Trautwein and Maëlle Oberländer.
