Birgit Lorenz
Birgit Lorenz (born August 20, 1963 in Berlin , † April 27, 2019 in Winterthur ) was a German figure skater - and trainer.
Life
From 1969 to 1977 Birgit Lorenz trained in Karl-Marx-Stadt . She then went to Berlin as a pair skater and from then on started with Knut Schubert for the SC Dynamo Berlin club . The couple were trained by Heidemarie Steiner-Walther .
She acquired the trainer's license from the German Ice Skating Union and then worked as a figure skating trainer in Chemnitz from 1993 to 1996 . In 1997 she moved to Switzerland and was a trainer in Wetzikon until 1999 . After their marriage, she took the name Birgit Brandt-Lorenz. Since 2000 she worked as a trainer at EC Zurich , since 2007 mainly in Winterthur, where she continued to be active in Zurich, Wetzikon and Bäretswil . During this time Birgit Lorenz was able to train and develop many juniors, which Lorenz was able to bring to several international youth competitions. Due to the diagnosis of cancer in 2014, Birgit Lorenz retired from the job and lived with her two children in Winterthur.
