Axel Rauschenbach (born July 14, 1967 in Dresden ) is a former German figure skater .

biography

Axel Rauschenbach came to figure skating through the selection process in the GDR . At the age of four he started ice skating as a single skater at SC Einheit Dresden. At the age of 13 he continued his sporting career as a pair runner. In 1985, Axel Rauschenbach moved to Chemnitz.

He first started with Mandy Wötzel . With her he became vice European champion in pair skating in 1989. The pair started for EV Chemnitz and was trained by Monika Scheibe . After a serious training accident in 1989 shortly before leaving for the World Championships in Paris, Mandy Wötzel was briefly in a coma. After the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, the couple separated. Axel Rauschenbach's new partner was Anuschka Gläser . With her he was also German champion in pair skating in 1994 and started in the same year at the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer. The couple were also trained by Monika Scheibe. Following their amateur career in 1994, the glasses / Rauschenbach couple performed at ice shows until 1996.

Axel Rauschenbach is a trained banker and was branch manager in Saxony from 2004 to 2007. The daughter Cindy emerged from the marriage with Anett Pötzsch. In autumn 2007, he began studying automotive production at Chemnitz University of Technology and graduated with a Master of Science degree in 2011 in order to work for his father in the patent attorney's office. Here he completed his legal training as a patent attorney candidate in the field of industrial property protection. Axel Rauschenbach has been a licensed patent attorney and European trademark and design attorney since July 2015.
