biography
Daniel Wende was a pair runner and ran together with Maylin Wende (Hausch) . He is a member of EJEC Essen and started ice skating when he was 7 years old. At first he ran with Rebecca Handke . Both trained with Julia Gnilosoubowa. In autumn 2004 they changed their trainer and were now looked after by Knut Schubert . They trained in both Dortmund and Berlin .
Daniel Wende interrupted his education studies specializing in sport. Since July 1, 2005 he has been a sports soldier in the German Armed Forces .
After the 2006/2007 season, Rebecca Handke and Daniel Wende separated. For one year he ran with the Russian Yekaterina Wassiliewa from Saint Petersburg (6th of the Junior World Championships 2006 with Alexander Smirnow ). But after the 2007/08 season this partnership broke up because Vasilyeva's visa was not extended. The new couple Hausch / Wende trained with Karel Fajfr in Oberstdorf from September 2008 .
Maylin Hausch and Daniel Wende qualified for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , where they finished 17th.
During the final freestyle training at the 2012 European Championships, Daniel Wende collided with Mari Vartmann . One of its runners was damaged. This damage greatly hindered him in the final freestyle. Nevertheless, the pair finished seventh at the 2012 European Championships in Sheffield .
Maylin and Daniel have been married since June 6, 2013.
At the end of the 2013/14 season, Maylin and Daniel Wende ended their careers as active runners. Both now work as trainers at the Oberstdorf Ice Sports Center.
Daniel Wende has been the full-time base manager at the Oberstdorf location since January 1, 2020.
