Mirko Müller (born November 12, 1974 in Löbau ) is a German figure skater who started in pair skating .
Life
Mirko Müller started ice skating at the age of four. First he started for SC Berlin . He was an individual runner until 1992 and went to sports school. He then switched to pair skating . From 1994 to 1995 he ran with the Russian Jekaterina Silnitzkaja , who had previously started with Marno Kreft . From 1995 to 2002 Mirko Müller was a member of the Bundeswehr sports promotion group .
From 1995 to 1996 he found a figure skating partner in the French Emilie Gras . From 1996 to 2000, Mirko Müller ran with Peggy Schwarz , who had previously separated from Alexander König because of a baby break . With Peggy Schwarz, Mirko Müller had his greatest international success when he won the bronze medal at the 1998 World Cup . The couple's coach was Knut Schubert . The choreographer was the American Diana Goolsbey .
Due to injury and the associated jumping weakness, Peggy Schwarz ended her figure skating career in 2000. In 2000, Mirko Müller was looking for a new partner and found her in Sarah Jentgens . Trained by Knut Schubert in Berlin, the couple refrained from participating in major competitions in the 2000/01 season. In the 2002 Olympic season Jentgens / Müller won the national title. The first and last international competition was the European Championships in Lausanne , where the couple gave up after the short program due to Müller's illness and thus missed the qualification for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . Thereupon Müller ended his figure skating career.
In 2002 Mirko Müller began studying business informatics at the FHTW Berlin .
He is married to his former choreographer Diana Goolsbey . They live in Raleigh (North Carolina) with their son Maximilian, who was born in 1999 . There Mirko Müller-Goolsbey works as a trainer in the Central Carolina Skating Club and in the High Performance Skating Academy.
