Karl Gerhard Bruno Grauel (born November 1, 1884 in Berlin ; † July 6, 1937 there ) was a German ice hockey player and figure skater .

Life

Bruno Grauel had three older brothers and grew up in North America, where he learned to play ice hockey. His mother died when he was only four years old. His eldest brother Max died around 1897 before his 20th birthday. His other two brothers, Hermann and Felix, returned to the United States as adults.

Bruno Grauel married Anna Bertha Engel (1895–1961) on October 18, 1919 and had two children with her. He died in Berlin in 1937.

ice Hockey

As an ice hockey player, Grauel belonged to the first ice hockey team of the Berlin ice skating club in 1908 . He took part as a player in the 1910 European ice hockey championship - it was the first official European ice hockey championship . The countries were not represented by national teams, but by their best ice hockey clubs. Further participation in European championships followed in 1911 , 1913 and 1914 . He also took part in the Coupe de Chamonix in 1911 and the LIHG championship in 1913 (gold medal). With the BSchC he was Berlin master in 1910 and German master in 1912, 1920 and 1923 .

Bruno Grauel was used in various positions - partly he played in defense , partly as a rover or as a center . His style of play was described as tough for the time, he was sometimes criticized by his teammates for his selfish play, he also had a strong puck handling and liked to pull directly on goal.
