Marina Kielmann began her career at TSC Eintracht Dortmund , then later started for ERC Westfalen Dortmund . She was trained by her mother Heide Kielmann. Marina Kielmann's brother Sven was also a figure skater.

Marina Kielmann started figure skating at the age of four. After finishing 2nd at the German Youth Championship in 1979, she celebrated her first major success in pair skating with Oliver Dörendahl and won the silver medal with him at the German Championships in 1981.

In roller skating, she was initially even more successful than in figure skating. In addition to several medals at European and world championships, she made it up to the vice world champion in 1990.

Later she concentrated entirely on figure skating and won several medals at European championships in individual skating. The greatest success at the European Championships was winning the silver medal in Lausanne in 1992. Her greatest success at world championships in figure skating was 4th place in 1994. Two 10th places in 1988 and 1992 at the Olympic Games in Calgary and Albertville as well as victory at the Universiade in 1989 rounded off the success story.

In 1995 she ended her amateur career and went to " Holiday on Ice " for a few years . Since 2005 Mrs. Kielmann has been in possession of the Trainer-A license of the German Ice Skating Union.

In her learned profession, Marina Kielmann worked as an office clerk in the administration of TSC Eintracht Dortmund, the sports club where her career began as a child, until November 2009.

Since then she has lived and worked in Berlin .

She has been part of the team since 1997 on the Tour der Hoffnung , a bike tour for the benefit of children with cancer and leukemia.

Since November 30, 2006 she has been supporting the non-profit association Kinderlachen from her hometown of Dortmund as an ambassador.
