Denise Biellmann (born December 11, 1962 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss figure skater who started in a single run . She is the world champion of 1981 and the European Champion of 1981 .
Denise Biellmann won her first international competition in Belgium at the age of eight and became Swiss Junior Champion at the age of eleven. At the age of 14 she took second place in her first European championship in the freestyle segment. From 1979 to 1981 Biellmann was Swiss champion . She won her first international medal with bronze at the 1979 European Championships in Zagreb behind Anett Pötzsch and Dagmar Lurz . At the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid , she finished fourth, although she had won the freestyle. 1981 was her most successful year. First she became European champion in Innsbruck and then world champion in Hartford ahead of Elaine Zayak and Claudia Kristofics-Binder .
Biellmann was the first woman in the world who could jump a triple Lutz . The Biellmann pirouette is also named after her. In 1979 and 1981 Biellmann was Swiss Sportswoman of the Year . After the world title in 1981, she switched from amateurs to professionals, and since then she has won the professional world title there eleven times.
In 1981 she starred alongside Thomas Gottschalk and Mike Krüger in the comedy pirate station Powerplay .
Between 1981 and 2011 Biellmann was a guest of the ice show Holiday on Ice and between 1996 and 2003 of Art on Ice .
In 2007 Biellmann and Sven Ninnemann took part in the Eurovision Dance Contest for Switzerland . With their performances of the Paso Dobles and the swing , the couple took last place. In autumn 2006 and winter 2007/2008 Biellmann appeared in the ProSieben series Stars on ice , but retired early due to an injury.
In 2014 Denise Biellmann was honored with the induction into the Figure Skating Hall of Fame (World Figure Skating Hall of Fame).
