Stars on ice - by and with Katarina Witt was a German figure skating show that was broadcast from October 2006 to February 2008 on the TV station ProSieben . It was a licensed implementation of the US format Skating with Celebrities .

    concept

In the show, several celebrities, each with a dance partner, professional or successful figure skaters, competed against each other in ice dances .

In each episode, the celebrities and their partners performed a live ice dance. The judges then evaluated the capacity with A and B grades for the traditional 6.0 scoring system the ISU for skating . Each juror awarded an A grade for the technical execution and the difficulty of the dance as well as a B grade for the artistic expression. Each grade could be awarded between 0.0 and 6.0 in steps of 0.1 points. All performances were then sorted in a ranking list. The placements were then given increasing points: the last placed received one point, the penultimate two points and so on. The television viewers also voted by televoting , i.e. by telephone and SMS. Points were awarded using the same judging method: the couple with the fewest calls received one point, the couple with the second fewest calls received two points, and so on. The jury and spectator ratings were added up for the total number of points that the final ranking list determined to determine the lowest-placed couple.

The couple with the lowest overall rating had to leave the show.

After leaving the show, the professional figure skaters appeared in the following episodes with show performances.

    First season (2006)

While it was announced in early May 2006 that a figure skating show with Katarina Witt was being planned, the title of Show Stars on Ice and some professional figure skaters who will appear on the show was announced at the end of June 2006. On August 21, 2006, the broadcaster announced that the show would be broadcast live every Wednesday at 8:15 pm from October 18. In the middle of September 2006 all participants and their partners as well as the jurors and moderators were finally announced.

The jury of the first season included the international ice skating judge and former president of the German Ice Skating Union Reinhard Mirmseker , the two-time German figure skating champion and ARD ice skating expert Daniel Weiss and the actress and singer Jeanette Biedermann . The couple's choreographer and trainer was Renée Roca , a former American ice dancer who also choreographed the original US format Skating with Celebrities .

Katarina Witt and Stefan Gödde moderated the first season . The seven-part season produced by Werner Kimmig and With Witt Sports & Entertainment was shot in a hall built especially for the show in Europa-Park in Rust , Baden-Württemberg .

This time the episodes were shown on Thursday evening at 8:15 p.m. Furthermore, last year's winner Oliver Petszokat took over the co-moderation at Katarina Witt's side , replacing Stefan Gödde . The juror Jeanette Biedermann was replaced by last year's winner and figure skater Kati Winkler . Reinhard Mirmseker and Daniel Weiss were still part of the jury.

Susanne Pätzold (2013): Winner of the second season (2008)

The nine-part season, again produced by Werner Kimmig and With Witt Sports & Entertainment , was filmed again in the hall built especially for the show in Europa-Park in Rust , Baden-Württemberg . The runner-up in the first season, Charlotte Engelhardt, worked as a backstage reporter this season.

    Attendees

On November 15, 2007, the TV station ProSieben announced the first eleven participants in the show. From the first episode onwards, a pair of participants left the show at the end of an episode. The moderator and model Jana Ina was also present among the announced participants . However, since she broke her elbow in training, she could not appear in the first show and had to cancel the entire season. The actress Nina Bott ran as a replacement from the second episode .

As a result of January 10, 2008, citizen Lars Dietrich broke his fibula during his freestyle exercise and suffered a torn ligament. On January 17th, 2008, actor and presenter Carsten Spengemann replaced him . In the same episode, no pair of participants was eliminated because the figure skater Denise Biellmann , partner of Patrick Bach , dislocated her shoulder joint live. Instead, a battle between them and the penultimate, Carsten Spengemann and Susanne Peters, was held at the beginning of the seventh episode on January 24, 2008. Therefore, two pairs of participants were eliminated in this episode.
