Maurizio Margaglio (born November 16, 1974 in Milan ) is a former Italian figure skater who started in ice dancing .

He did not start figure skating until he was eleven. At first he ran with Claudia Frigoli. His trainer was Roberto Pelizzola .

Maurizio Margaglio achieved great success with his second ice dance partner Barbara Fusar-Poli . In 1996 they made their debut at world championships. In 2000 they won their first medals by becoming Vice World Champion and Vice European Champion . In the 2000/2001 season, Fusar-Poli and Margaglio were victorious in all competitions in which they competed. They won all of their three Grand Prix competitions as well as the Grand Prix final . In 2001 they became European champions in Bratislava and world champions in Vancouver . You are the first international title holder in ice dancing from Italy.

After the 2002 Winter Olympics , when Fusar-Poli and Margaglio won the bronze medal, they no longer took part in international competitions. They returned to the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin and, as in their first Olympic Games in 1998, finished sixth.

In the second season he was seen with Stars auf Eis , which was broadcast on ProSieben, and was able to prevail in the final together with his partner Susanne Pätzold against the competition.

In 2011, Margaglio signed a three-year contract with the Finnish Figure Skating Federation to advance Finnish ice dancing as a coach. He is the Finnish national coach, coach representative and technical specialist at the International Ice Skating Union .

Margaglio has three sons with his wife.
