Alexander Vyacheslavovich Schulin ( Russian Александр Вячеславович Жулин ; born July 20, 1963 in Kaliningrad near Moscow ) is a Russian figure skater who competed in ice dancing for the Soviet Union , the United Team and Russia .

Alexander Schulin started with Maja Ussowa in ice dancing. Her trainer was Natalja Dubowa . In the period from 1989 to 1994, they won a medal at all of the major international championships in which they competed. In 1993 they became European champions in Helsinki and world champions in Prague . Ussova and Schulin also stood on the podium at both of their Olympic Games . In 1992 in Albertville they won the bronze medal and in 1994 in Lillehammer the silver medal. The couple married while still being amateur in 1986. However, the marriage ended in divorce due to Schulin's affair with Oxana Grishchuk .

Maja Ussowa and Alexander Schulin ended their amateur careers in 1994, became professionals, performed at ice shows and won various professional competitions. After the divorce from Maja Ussowa, an ice dance partner swap took place. While Maja Ussowa appeared from then on with Yevgeny Platov , Alexander Schulin ran with Oksana Grishchuk. The couple Grishchuk / Schulin separated again.

In 2000 Alexander Schulin married the ice dancer Tatjana Nawka . Their daughter Sasha was born in May 2000. The family lived in New Jersey but returned to Moscow in 2006. At the end of 2007, they announced their split. Schulin was his wife's trainer and her ice dance partner Roman Kostomarow . He later trained Nathalie Péchalat and Fabian Bourzat as well as Jelena Iljinych and Nikita Kazalapow .
