Pavel Roman (born January 25, 1943 in Olomouc , Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia , † January 30, 1972 ) was a Czech figure skater who started in ice dancing for Czechoslovakia .

His ice dance partner was his sister Eva Romanová . The siblings initially competed in pair skating . Here they came third at the Czechoslovak Championships in 1957 and second in 1958 and 1959. At their first European Championship in 1959 , they competed in both pair skating and ice dancing. They finished twelfth and last in pair skating and seventh in ice dancing. After that, they specialized in ice dancing. Míla Nováková had been her trainer since the 1950s . In 1962 the siblings won their first medal at the European Championships with bronze in Geneva and their first world championship title in Prague when they took part in the World Cup for the first time, when they left their rivals Christian and Jean Paul Guhel from France behind. Eva was only 16 and Pavel 19 years old. A year later they won the silver medal behind Linda Shearman and Michael Phillips at the European Championships in Budapest . After this European Championship, they won all competitions in which they participated. They defended their world title in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1963 . In 1964 they became European champions for the first time in Grenoble . In Dortmund they won their third gold medal at world championships. In 1965 Eva Romanová and Pavel Roman became European champions for the second time in Moscow and world champions for the fourth time in a row in Colorado Springs . Then they ended their amateur career and ran the ice revue Holiday on Ice .

With four world championship titles they are only surpassed by Lyudmila Pachomowa and Alexander Gorshkov from the Soviet Union , who achieved a total of six titles.

Pavel Roman died in a car accident shortly after his 29th birthday. He is buried in the Olšany Cemetery in Prague.
