Wolfgang Schöniger

Wolfgang Schöniger (born August 4, 1920 in Karlsbad , Czechoslovakia , † February 24, 1971 ) was an analyst and microchemist . The process of the Schöniger digestion for the analysis of halogens is named after him .

Life

After attending school in Karlsbad, he studied chemistry at the Charles University in Prague . In 1949 he was granted Austrian citizenship. In July 1950 he was awarded the Fritz Feigl Prize of the Austrian Society for Microchemistry. From 1953 Schöniger was the head of the microanalytical laboratory of the pharmaceutical-chemical department of the company Sandoz AG in Basel (Switzerland) and from 1959 an authorized signatory of this company. In February 1971 Schöniger died in an accident.

Between 1948 and 1971, Schöniger published 23 publications in relevant journals.
