Alexander Georgijewitsch Gorschkow ( Russian Александр Георгиевич Горшков ; born October 8, 1946 in Moscow ) is a former Russian figure skater who started in ice dancing for the Soviet Union .

Career

His father was Georgi Ivanovich Gorschkow (Георгий Иванович Горшков) (1910-1968). His mother was Maria Sergejewna Gorschkowa (Мария Сергеевна Горшкова) (1912-1995).

In 1966 he began to dance on the ice and started with Lyudmila Pachomowa from then on . Her trainer was Jelena Tchaikovskaya . At first, Alexander Gorshkov was seen as a runner with no real perspective. In 1970, after a long build-up, the couple became both European and world champions for the first time, and in 1976 they even became the first Olympic champions in ice dancing . From 1970 to the end of their career, they were defeated only once at European and World Championships . The German siblings Angelika Buck and Erich Buck achieved this feat at the European Championships in 1972 . Overall, Pachomowa and Gorshkov won six European championship titles ( 1970 , 1971 , 1973 , 1974 , 1975 and 1976 ) and six world championship titles ( 1970 , 1971 , 1972 , 1973 , 1974 and 1976 ), making them the most successful ice dancers in history at these tournaments are. The original dance Pachomowa / Gorschkows from 1973, Tango Romantika, later became a compulsory dance.

In 1970 Lyudmila Pachomowa and Alexander Gorshkov married. In 1977 Lyudmila and Alexander's daughter, Julia Alexandrovna Gorshkova, was born. From 1977 to 1992 Alexander Gorschkow was a state-employed figure skating coach. In 1984 he became a member of the Technical Ice Dance Commission of the International Ice Skating Union (ISU). In 1986 his wife Lyudmila Pachomova died of leukemia . In 1988 Pachomowa / Gorschkow were inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame .

Alexander Gorshkov has headed the International Relations Department in the Russian Olympic Committee since 1992. In 1998 he was elected chairman of the technical ice dance commission of the ISU. In 2000 he became vice-president of the Moscow regional figure skating federation and president of the regional non-profit association “Arts and Sports” named Lyudmila Pachomova. In 2001 he was elected a member of the Executive Committee of the Russian NOK. Since June 4, 2010 Gorshkov has been President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR).

Alexander Gorschkow is married again today. His wife is called Irina Ivanovna Gorschkowa (Ирина Ивановна Горшкова) (born 1958). His wife brought a son, Stanislaw Stanislawowitsch Beljajew (Станислав Станиславович Беляев) (born 1978) into the marriage.
