Career

His ice dance partner has been Meryl Davis since 1997 . The ice dance couple was brought together by trainer Seth Chafetz and is training today with Igor Schpilband and Marina Sujewa .

In 2006 Davis and White won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Ljubljana as reigning US junior champions . This happened when their future main competitors Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir from Canada won.

In 2007, Davis and White made their debut in World and Four Continents Championships . They reached fourth and seventh place respectively.

They won their first medal at the four continents championships in 2008 in Goyang, South Korea, with silver behind Virtue and Moir.

At the Four Continents Championship in Vancouver in 2009 , to which Davis and White competed for the first time as reigning US senior champions , they defeated their Canadian competitors and thus won their first title at a major international championship.

2009/10 season

The 2009/10 Olympic season got off to a promising start for the Americans. They won both Grand Prix competitions in which they competed and, for the first time, the Grand Prix final . They became US champions again . For the first time, they were able to defeat their strongest national competitors, the established Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto . At their first Olympic Games in Vancouver , Davis and White won the silver medal behind Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir . The same order emerged at the post-Olympic World Cup in Turin , where Davis and White were able to win their first World Cup medal.

2010/11 season

In the 2010/11 season, Davis and White won all of the competitions they competed in. They won both Grand Prix competitions and for the second time in a row at the Grand Prix final . For the third time in a row they were US ice dance champions . In Taipei they won their second gold medal at the Four Continents Championships . After the short dance, they were still in second place behind Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir , but they could no longer compete in the freestyle due to injury. At the World Championships in Moscow , after the short dance, they were again behind their Canadian competitors, who set a new world record in this segment. In the freestyle, the tide turned and Davis / White were able to win their first title at world championships with a world record in this segment and overall performance. It was the first ever gold medal at a world championship for an American ice dance couple.

2011/12 season

In the 2011/12 season, Davis and White started again with wins in both Grand Prix competitions . For the third time in a row, they also won the Grand Prix final , this time ahead of their main competitors Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir . In the Four Continents Championship and the World Championship , however, the judges saw the Canadians just ahead. Davis and White ran the freestyle this season to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss .

Olympic Games 2014

At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Davis won the gold medal in ice dancing with White and also took third place with the team.
