Zachary Tyler "Zach" Donohue (born January 8, 1991 in Madison , Connecticut ) is an American ice dancer .

Life

Donohue received home schooling all his life. He started figure skating in 2001: his first partners were Alissandra Aronow, Sara Bailey (2005/06), Kaylyn Patitucci (2006/07) and Lili Lamar (2007/08). From summer 2008 he formed a team with Piper Gilles ; with her he made his international debut on September 21, 2008. They won the “ISU Junior Grand Prix” series in Ostrava, Czech Republic . At the US Junior Championships in 2009, the ice dancing couple took third place. But in May 2010 it announced his separation.

Donohue therefore continued with Madison Hubbell . Already on their debut together they won the Nebelhorn Trophy , a victory that they repeated in 2013.

Donohue finished third in the US championships with Hubbell in 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017 before becoming national champions with his dance partner in 2018. In 2014 he also won the Four Continents Championships .

Zach Donohue qualified with Hubbell for the first time for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . He finished third in the short program (with a personal best), after the freestyle it was enough for fourth place in the final ranking.
