Maxwell Theodore "Max" Aaron (born February 25, 1992 in Scottsdale , Arizona ) is an American figure skater who starts in a single run .
Career
Aaron began playing ice hockey at the age of four . Five years later, he tried his hand at figure skating for the first time. From then on, he pursued both sports in parallel for the next seven years. Aaron played ice hockey in the top class of under 16s. For two seasons he led the league in goals and penalty minutes. In 2007 he made it as one of 40 ice hockey players on the perspective team of the US ice hockey association. In the same year he finished 13th at the national junior championships in figure skating. In 2008, Aaron suffered a lumbar injury that resulted in a year-long rest period. He then decided to give up his ice hockey career and focus on figure skating. He went to Colorado Springs to train with Tom Zakrajsek .
In 2011, Aaron became the US Junior Champion and finished fifth in the Junior World Championships . In 2012 he took part in the US Seniors Championships for the first time and finished them in eighth place. He was so ashamed of his mistakes in the freestyle that he did not return to his training base as planned, took a break and toyed with the idea of ending his sporting career. He also enrolled in business studies. In the end he decided to finish the path he had begun and resumed his training.
At the age of 20, Max Aaron became the American senior figure skating champion in Omaha in January 2013 . He was particularly noticeable with his jumping ability. In his freestyle he stood two quadruple salchows , one of them in combination with a triple toe loop . He showed six triple jumps in the second half of his program and got bonus points for them.
His debut at the Four Continents Championships he finished in fourth place. On his world championship debut, Aaron finished seventh in London, Canada . He set a new personal best with a total of 238.36 points.
At the world championship the following year , Aaron was eighth , this time coming third in the US championships . In 2015 he was fourth in the US championships and failed to qualify for the world championship.
In the fall of 2015, Aaron won a Grand Prix for the first time with his win at Skate America . He achieved a personal best with a total of 258.95 points.
Personal
Max Aaron is the child of a nurse and a pediatrician. He has two sisters who both skate in pairs. Aaron was brought up traditionally in a Jewish way. He owns a golden retriever . He gives Evan Lysacek as a role model .
