Charles Tickner (born November 13, 1953 in Lafayette , California ) is a former American figure skater who started in a single run . He is the world champion of 1978 .

Tickner, who only began to seriously train figure skating at the age of 18, became world champion in 1978 after a few setbacks . In 1980 he won bronze at the World Championships and the Olympic Games . He started for the Denver Figure Skating Club. After finishing his amateur career, he turned pro and went to Ice Capades for five years . He is now a coach in various clubs in Northern California.

Charles Tickner has been married since 1984 and has three sons.
