Alexander Wladimirowitsch Fadejew ( Russian Александр Владимирович еадеев ; English Alexandre Fadeev ; born January 4, 1964 in Kazan , Tatar ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet figure skater who started in a single skate . He is the world champion from 1985 and the European champion from 1984 and from 1987 to 1989 .

Alexander Fadejew began figure skating as a young child. His parents gave him his first ice skates. The father Vladimir, an electronics engineer by profession, really had nothing to do with figure skating. Mother Anna, a doctor by profession, was the driving force behind Alexander Fadeev's figure skating career.

As a six-year-old student, Alexander Fadejew was discovered by the figure skating coach Gennady Tarasov. At the age of 16 he went to coach Stanislaw Schuk in Moscow and from then on started for CSKA Moscow .

Alexander Fadejew was the first figure skater to show the combination of triple axel and double loop. His greatest successes were the world championship in 1985 , a total of four European championships and the junior world championship in 1980. He could not win a medal at the Olympic Games .

During his amateur days, Alexander Fadeev studied sports. After that, he went to the pros and appeared in several ice shows. Today he lives with his wife Cydèle, a former Canadian figure skater, near Chicago in the USA , where both work as coaches.
