Jeffrey Buttle (born September 1, 1982 in Smooth Rock Falls , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian figure skater who started in a single run . He is the world champion of 2008 and the Four Continents champion of 2002 and of 2004.

Career

Jeffrey Buttle started figure skating at the age of two and competed in competitions from the age of six. He also took part in ice dancing competitions with his older sister Meghan . During his professional career, he lived in Barrie , Ontario and trained at the Mariposa School of Skating. Although he is not a French-Canadian, Buttle attended the École Don Bosco, a French-speaking primary school, and thus also learned the French language. Before devoting himself entirely to figure skating, he studied chemistry by the hour at the University of Toronto .

After Buttle had won the four continents championships in 2002 and 2004 , he became vice world champion in 2005 behind Stéphane Lambiel . At his first and only Olympic Games in Turin in 2006 , he won the bronze medal behind Yevgeny Pljuschtschenko and Stéphane Lambiel. Two years later, the three-time Canadian champion became world champion in Gothenburg with a personal best, celebrating his greatest sporting triumph. In 2008 he ended his career and did not take the chance to compete in the 2010 Olympic Games in his own country .

Buttle works today as a choreographer , among others for Kim Yu-na , Patrick Chan , Javier Fernández and Yuzuru Hanyū .

He has been married to Justin Harris since February 2014.
