Pockar became Canadian men's figure skating champions three times in a row in 1978, 1979 and 1980 and finished second in 1981 and 1982 behind Brian Orser . He celebrated his greatest success in 1982 when he won the bronze medal at the World Figure Skating Championships .
After the end of his sporting career, Pockar worked as a choreographer . He toured with Stars on Ice , which was produced by IMG .
Pockar died in 1992 of complications from AIDS . In the 1999 published autobiography Landing It by Scott Hamilton , Pockar came out as homosexual.
