Melville Rogers
Melville Falkner Rogers (born January 5, 1899 in Ottawa , Ontario , † September 26, 1973 ibid) was a Canadian figure skater .
Career
In the individual run, Rogers was Canadian champion in 1923 and from 1925 to 1928. However, he did not take part in any world championships as an individual runner. At the Olympic Games in Chamonix in 1924 , he finished seventh. In pair skating, he was also seventh at these Olympic Games with his figure skating partner Cecil Smith . He then became Canadian pair skating champion in 1925 with Gladys Rogers . With Isobel Rogers, however, he took part in his only two world championships. In 1930 the couple finished fifth and in 1932 they finished ninth and last.
After retiring from competitive sports, Rogers served as a judge and served as President of the Canadian Figure Skating Federation for two terms.
