Suzanne "Suzi" Morrow , married. Francis (born December 14, 1930 in Toronto , † June 11, 2006 ) was a Canadian figure skater who started in single skating and pair skating .

Career

Morrow celebrated her greatest successes in pair skating with Wallace Diestelmeyer . The Canadian champions of 1947 and 1948 won bronze medals at both the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz and the World Figure Skating Championships in Davos in 1948 . The couple was the first to show the death spiral with just one hand in the form known today.

In the individual run, Morrow was Canadian champion from 1949 to 1951. In the period from 1948 to 1953, with the exception of 1949, she took part in all world championships , but remained without a podium. From 1950 to 1952 , she finished fourth three times in a row and thus narrowly missed a medal. Morrow played two Olympic Games in a single run. In 1948 in St. Moritz she took 14th place and in 1952 in Oslo she was sixth.

After Morrow retired from competitions, she served as a judge for over 50 years. At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , she was the first woman ever to take the Olympic oath for the judges.

Morrow graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine in 1952 and worked as a veterinarian until she retired in 1995. During this time, she also served as a judge for dog shows at the Canadian Kennel Club .
