Return to pair skating

It wasn't until 1998 that they became a figure skating couple on the advice of coach Richard Gaulthier . In 2000 Jamie Salé and David Pelletier finished fourth in the world championship and the following year in Vancouver world champions . At the 2002 Winter Olympics , they became Olympic champions together with Jelena Bereschnaja and Anton Sicharulidze . They were initially ranked second. After it became known that the French judge was put under pressure during the evaluation and therefore voted for the Russian couple, the gold medal was subsequently awarded to them.
The Salt Lake City judges scandal led to a completely new rating system in the years that followed.
