Rena Inoue
Rena Inoue ( Japanese 井上 怜 奈 , Inoue Rena ; born October 17, 1976 in Nishinomiya ) is an American figure skater and pair skater of Japanese origin. With her partner John Baldwin , she won the US pair skating championship in 2004 and 2006. The couple Inoue / Baldwin was the first couple in the world to show a triple throwing axel in competition.
biography
Rena Inoue originally started as a single runner and also as a pair runner for Japan. Her Japanese partner in pair skating was Tomoaki Koyama . The couple took part in the 1992 Olympics. In 1994 she took part in the Olympic Winter Games as a single runner.
Rena Inoue was diagnosed with lung cancer at a very early stage in 1998 . Thanks to chemotherapy , however, she was free of cancer afterwards.
She has been running with John Baldwin since 2000. The couple starts for the USA . In 2005 she became a US citizen.
At the US Championships in 2006, Inoue / Baldwin became the first couple in the world to show a triple throwing axel in competition and they repeated this success at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
While bowing directly after the freestyle at the US Championships in 2008, Rena Inoue received a marriage proposal from John Baldwin, which she accepted.
Rena Inoue is an office worker and lives in Santa Monica , California .
