Nishinomiya ( Japanese 西宮 市 , - shi ) is a city in Hyōgo prefecture on Honshū , the main island of Japan . The city is located on Osaka Bay between Osaka and Kobe and was founded on April 1, 1925.
Nishinomiya is home to the Kwansei Gakuin University . Rice wine brewing as well as rubber , steel and car manufacturing are economically important .
It is also home to the famous Koshien Stadium, home of the Hanshin Tigers and the venue for the popular annual high school baseball championships.
