Ashiya ( Japanese 芦 屋 市 , -shi ) is a city in the Hanshin area between Osaka and Kobe in Hyōgo prefecture in Japan . It is part of the large metropolitan area of Kansai . Its current administrative structure dates from November 10, 1940 .
Ashiya University has existed here since 1964 . In 1991 the Ashiya City Museum of Art and History was built.

Attractions
In Ashiya there is a house owned by Frank Lloyd Wright , which is privately owned by a company but can be visited. In addition, the Koshino house by the architect Tadao Andō is located in the Okuikecho district.
