Toyooka ( Japanese 豊 岡 市 , - shi ) is a city in Hyōgo prefecture in Japan .

Toyooka is east of Tottori and north of Kobe on the Sea of Japan .
history
Toyooka was named Shi on April 1, 1950 after three villages were incorporated.
On April 1, 2005, the new appointment to Shi took place after the merger of the old Shi Toyooka, with the Chō Hidaka ( 日 高 町 , -chō ), Kinosaki ( 城 崎 町 , -chō ) and Takeno ( 竹 野 町 , -chō ) in the Kinosaki -gun ( 城 崎 郡 ), as well as Izushi ( 出 石 町 , -chō ) and Tantō ( 但 東 町 , -chō ) in the Izushi-gun ( 出 石 郡 ). Both districts ( Gun ) were then dissolved.
