Takarazuka ( Japanese 宝 塚 市 , - shi ) is a city in Hyōgo prefecture in Japan on the island of Honshū . She was elevated to the independent city on April 1, 1954, is part of the great Kyoto - Osaka - Kobe - conurbation .

Geographical location
Takarazuka is located in the northwest of Osaka and is surrounded by the cities of Nishinomiya and Amagasaki in the south, Osaka, Itami and Kawanishi in the east, and Sanda and Kobe in the west. The southwestern part of the city is flat and densely populated, while mountains and rural areas dominate the west and north. These mountains are foothills of the Rokkō Mountains . The Muko River flows across the city on its way from the mountains to Osaka Bay . The Sengari Reservoir is the only larger body of water in the far northwest.

Attractions
Takarazuka is best known for the Takarazuka Revue , an exclusively female theater group whose stars play male roles. Also here is the Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum.
An important temple is the Nakayama-dera .
