Montebello is home to the largest memorial in the United States dedicated to the victims of the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire - the Montebello Genocide Memorial .
history
Monte Bellos story begins with the establishment of a mission of the Franciscan (OFM) in 1771. Until the 1920s, was the place influenced by agricultural production of vegetables, fruits and flowers. But when the Standard Oil Company discovered oil in the Montebello area in 1917 , the farmland became oil fields .
