Hanshin Highway
Hanshin-Autobahn ( Japanese 阪神 高速 道路 , Hanshin kōsokudōro , dt. "Hanshin-Autobahn [en]", Eng. Hanshin Expressway ) describes a motorway network with a total length of 273 km, in the area of the Japanese cities Osaka , Kobe and Kyōto , the Hanshin area.
history
The motorway network is operated by the company of the same name Hanshin Kōsokudōro KK ( 阪神 高速 道路 株式会社 , ~ Kabushiki kaisha , English Hanshin Expressway Company, Limited ). It was created in 2005 when the public company of the same name was privatized in 1962 ( kōdan , English public corporation ). The routes were built as earthquake-proof structures, but partially collapsed in the Kobe earthquake in 1995 , collapsed on their side or showed deformations in a number of the supporting pillars. By 1996, the destroyed or damaged sections of the network had been restored.
