description
The name is an acronym of two kanji characters which represent the two places interconnected Sapporo ( 札幌) or Otaru (小樽 ).
On December 4, 1971, the first section between Otaru and Sapporo-nishi was opened, two months before the start of the 1972 Winter Olympics . This 24.3 km long section initially had only one lane in each direction and was the first highway on the island of Hokkaidō. Two additional lanes were available from August 22, 1974. The opening of the section between Sapporo-nishi and the Sapporo motorway triangle (connection to the Hokkaidō motorway ) took place on September 30, 1992. With the privatization of the state motorway authority, the Sasson motorway went into the possession of the Higashi-Nihon Kōsokudōro on October 1, 2005 over.
The maximum permissible speed is 80 km / h, the use of the motorway is subject to a toll .
