Kita-ku ( Japanese 北区 , dt. "District North") is a district ( ku ) of Kobe . With 240.31 km² it is the largest of nine in Kobe.
geography
The district is almost rural and includes the northern part of the Rokkō massif and the adjoining districts up to the city of Sanda . Due to its location on the other side of the ridge, the damage caused by the earthquake in Kobe in 1995 was comparatively minor; the district also had only 12 fatalities.
Attractions
The onsen health resort Arima is well known . The special features include the old foreigner cemetery of Kobe and the part of the newly opened Akashi-Kaikyō National Government Park located on Honshū , north and south of the Akashi-Kaikyō Bridge .
