Michael Edward "Peter" Kennedy III (born September 4, 1927 in Olympia , Washington ) is a former American figure skater who started in pair skating .

Together with his sister Karol , he was US pair skating champion five times in a row from 1948 to 1952 . Peter and Karol Kennedy, known as "The Kennedy Kids", competed in world championships from 1947 to 1952 . In 1947 , 1949 , 1951 and 1952 they became vice world champions and in 1950 in London world champions. This was the USA's first pair skating world title.

The Kennedys played two Olympic Games . In 1948 in St. Moritz they finished sixth despite Karol's back injury and in 1952 in Oslo they won the silver medal behind Ria and Paul Falk .

After the Kennedys were defeated by the Germans at the World Cup in 1952, as they had been at the Olympic Games, the frustrated Peter Kennedy attacked a press photographer and was then suspended by the ISU and his national association. This ended the Kennedy's career.

After his figure skating career, Peter Kennedy tried his hand at skiing. He later became a consultant and representative of ski companies.
