Andrée Brunet , b. Joly (born September 16, 1901 in Paris , † March 30, 1993 in Boyne City , Michigan ) was a French figure skater who started in single and pair skating .

In the individual run, Joly was French champion ten times in a row from 1921 to 1930 and thus holds the record for most titles in the women's competition at French championships to this day . She took part in two Olympic Games in a single run . In 1924 in Chamonix she finished fifth and in 1928 in St. Moritz she was eleventh.

Joly was much more successful in pair skating with Pierre Brunet . In total, they were eleven times French champions (1924-1933 and 1935) and took part in five world championships. At their first world championship in 1925 in Vienna they won the silver medal behind Herma Szabó and Ludwig Wrede . In all other participations, 1926 in Berlin , 1928 in London , 1930 in New York and 1932 in Montréal , the couple became world champions . In 1932, the Brunets won the gold medal in their home town of Paris, when they only participated in the European Championship . Joly and Brunet played a total of three Olympic Games together. In 1924 in Chamonix they won the bronze medal behind Helene Engelmann and Alfred Berger from Austria and Ludowika and Walter Jakobsson from Finland, in 1928 in St. Moritz and 1932 in Lake Placid they became Olympic champions . In protest against the Nazis, they renounced their possible title defense at the Olympic Winter Games in 1936 , but had not contested a World Cup since 1932.

The couple ended their amateur careers in 1936. They became professionals and emigrated to the USA in 1940 . They later became coaches. Her students included Carol Heiss and Scott Hamilton .

Andrée Joly and Pierre Brunet married in 1929. The couple had a son, Jean-Pierre , who, together with Donna Jeanne Pospisil, became US champions in sports couples in 1945 and 1946 . Jean-Pierre died in a car accident in 1948 at the age of 19.

Andrée and Pierre Brunet were inducted into the Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1976 .
