Frances Helen Dafoe , CM , O.Ont (born January 17, 1929 in Toronto , Ontario , † September 23, 2016 ) was a Canadian figure skater who started pair skating .

Dafoe's skating partner was Norris Bowden . The couple won four Canadian championship titles from 1952 to 1955. From 1952 to 1956 they took part in world championships . In 1953 and 1956 they became vice world champions and in 1954 in Oslo and 1955 in Vienna world champions. It was Canada's first pair skating world title for Canada. At the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , Dafoe and Bowden won the silver medal. They succumbed to the Austrians Sissy Schwarz and Kurt Oppelt .

Dafoe and Bowden were the first to show twist lifts and throw jumps.

Dafoe was also Canadian ice dance champion with Bowden in 1952 .

After the end of her competitive career, she worked as a costume designer. Among other things, she designed the costumes for the graduation ceremony of the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary . Dafoe also stayed in figure skating as a judge.
