László Szollás [ ˈlaːsloː ˈsolːaːʃ ] (born November 13, 1907 in Budapest ; † October 4, 1980 ibid) was a Hungarian figure skater who started in pair skating .

He competed in pair skating with Emília Rotter . Between 1931 and 1936, they became Hungarian champions six times in a row.

In 1930 and 1931 they were vice European champions behind their compatriots Olga Orgonista and Sándor Szalay . In their third and last European Championship participation , they became European champions in Prague in 1934 .

Szollás and Rotter made their first appearance at world championships in 1929 in their native Budapest . They took fifth place there. The next time they took part in the World Cup, they became world champions in Berlin in 1931 . In doing so, they narrowly beat their compatriots Orgonista and Szalay, to whom they had recently been defeated at the European Championships. A year later, in 1932 in Montréal , Canada , Szollás and Rotter were unable to defend their title, they won the silver medal behind the French Andrée Brunet and Pierre Brunet . For them it was their last World Cup and the way was clear for the Hungarians. In 1933 in Stockholm and 1934 in Helsinki they won the gold medal, both times just ahead of the Austrians Idi Papez and Karl Zwack . In 1935 in their native Budapest they became world champions for the third time in a row and for the fourth and last time, unanimously ahead of the Austrians Ilse Pausin and Erik Pausin .

Szollás and Rotter took part in two Olympic Games . They won the bronze medal both in Lake Placid in 1932 and in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1936 .

László Szollás fought on the Eastern Front in World War II . He was taken prisoner by the Soviets and spent four years in a camp in Siberia. After returning to Hungary and nationalizing his property, he studied and became a doctor of sports medicine in Budapest.
